Mariana Ospina is an artist based on Long Island, NY. She studied Fine Art at SUNY Old Westbury and is currently enrolled in the Clinical Art Therapy and Counseling program at LIU Post. The central theme of Mariana's work is based around the human condition and experience. Mariana explores tensions with one’s own self, and often looks introspectively while creating her work.
Mariana experiments with various materials and mediums, layering images to create a whole new image. Recently, Mariana has been working with collage. Manipulating the human form and using symbolic representation of past, present, and future. It has become a form of therapy for her. Whether positive or negative, it deepens her understanding of her own experiences in life. Often the work takes on a darker and existential tone. Visually expressing thoughts and feelings that may be undesirable, but necessary and part of life. Mariana continues to make work that challenges the viewer to look within, invoking a deeper emotional response and shared human experience.
